Implant Supported Dentures Las Vegas

For people who have had the bad luck losing all, or most, of their teeth, there are effective options to bring back their smiles.

Most us are familiar with traditional removable dentures that have been around for decades, and dental implants (crowns) that replace individual teeth.

Implant-supported dentures are the best of the both worlds for those seeking a youthful and healthy-looking smile. Implant-supported dentures are also an affordable option for people who want to improve their chewing without the cost of full-arch dental implants. Another bonus: Implant-supported dentures do not require adhesive to stay put like traditional dentures that can shift and move.

Implants are small titanium posts that act as roots by anchoring dentures to the jaw bone. Implants lie beneath the gum line, and are not visible. Only the dentures can be seen. When dentures are held by implants the dentures do not press down on the bone tissue in a bad way.

Our oral surgeon will attach two to four implants in each jaw bone. It usually only takes two implants for the lower denture, while the upper denture usually needs four implants because of the differences between the upper and lower jaws. This can take 1 to 3 hours depending on how many implants are needed. After the implants are placed in the gum, most people only need an over-the-counter medication for any pain.

Sometimes, a second procedure is needed to attach temporary healing caps and/or abutments that will ultimately hold the dentures to the implant. The implants usually need between 3 to 6 months to fuse with the jaw bone. This process is called osseointegration, and it actually causes the jaw bone tissue to grow and strengthen. We will provide you with a fantastic-looking set of temporary false teeth for you to wear until the healing process is complete so that you never lose your smile.

If you're having these issues, maybe you should consider having a dental implant.

After the healing completes, a custom-made set of dentures (an overdenture) will be snapped on the implants. These type of dentures are removable just like traditional dentures. They can be snapped on and off when needed. We will show you how to snap the dentures on and off, so that you can experience all the benefits.

Implant-supported dentures are more comfortable than traditional dentures, less likely to become loose while talking, cause less friction on the gums, help prevent bone loss, are more natural looking, and can improve eating. Much like traditional dentures, removable implant-supported dentures are taken off nightly for cleaning. In the long run, traditional dentures can lead to a reduced jawbone, unattractive smile, difficulty in eating certain foods and problems while speaking. You can do far better with implant-supported dentures.
