All-on-4 dental implants are for patients who need an entire new set of teeth. Some people may think this means a dental implant to replace each tooth (entire mouth restoration). That’s not the case. All-on-4 dental implants are full-arch fixed bridges that are supported by four implants on the top of your mouth, and four on the bottom. This gives you a great smile and saves money (that’s something to smile about!).
Dental implants are small titanium screws that are surgically placed in your jaw bone. The titanium screws will actually fuse with the living bone in your jaw, which helps your jaw bone grow and prevent any future loss of the bone. After your All-on-4 dental implants are placed in your jaw bone, you will be fitted with some great looking custom-made temporary teeth. This is necessary because your jaw bone needs time to heal, usually about 6 to 8 months.
Once this healing process is complete, abutments are attached to the implants, and then natural-looking bridges (false teeth) are attached to the abutments. Only the fixed bridges are visible in your mouth.
